TI4 champions in 2014 the chinese team Newbee and its five players were given permanent ban from Valve.
The announce was first released today by Valve on Weibo a Chinese social network. Since January 1st, 2021 Newbee and its rooster are permanently banned from all Perfect World and Valve events, the sentence has no expiration date.
The ban concerns :
- “Moogy”
- “Aq”
- “Wizard”
- “Waixi”
- “Faith”
In May 2020, Newbee’s team was suspected of participating in rigged games during the IMBA TV events. At this time the tournament organizer has issued a lifetime ban on the team in its tournaments, Newbee was also banned from the CDA ( Chinese Dota 2 Professional Association).
This meant Newbee wasn’t able to participate in any kind of tournaments in China but could potentially compete abroad. However, during that time additional revelations emerged questioning once again the Chinese team. Therefore, Valve decided to set things straight by sentencing the team and 5 of its players to a lifetime ban.
However, none of the parties has yet provided evidence of Newbee’s guilt, only the reason – participation in fixed matches.
